This photo shows U.S. President Theodore Roosevelt beside standing Mr. Pedro de Castro y Castro, husband Mima Besosa who was the lady who embroidered the flag of Puerto Rico in 1895. Don Pedro and Do?a Mima were the parents of the famous architect Pedro A. Castro and kisses. taken on November 21, 1906 when the president visited the island I first received in Ponce with great fanfare and then traveled to San Juan next to Gov. Beckman Winthrop . It was the first U.S. president to visit other countries outside the continent, when he sailed by boat to Puerto Rico and Panama. Overnight at La Fortaleza and liked much the atmosphere of Cidra. Back in Washington , sent a message to Congress, required to expedite the steps to grant American citizenship to all Puerto Ricans. concludes in the message : "that damage would cause the grant it if they have just right to have it . "
